About Me
   what is an irmel anyway?

up close and personal

Okay, not *that* close, but close enough ;)

My name is Jasmin Junger. I live in Karlsruhe, Germany, where I study process engineering. I will hopefully finish my studies and get a real job around October 2008 - but I've learned that making plans at a university is pretty much useless most of the time.

In my free time I love playing with Photoshop to create photomanipulations and digital mixed media pieces. My gallery can be viewed at my deviantArt userpage, where I go by the name of kuschelirmel. I also dabble with photography, fractals and whatever else tickles my fancy. I believe that standing still is the worst thing that can happen to an artist.

On dA, I'm currently gallery director for photomanipulations (since July '06) and I enjoy it muchly - dA is one of the coolest art communities out there, if you haven't taken a look at it yet, you definitely should :)

What is an irmel anyway?

I am *grins*

The story goes as follows: when I had just gotten together with my boyfriend, we were fooling around and suddenly he stops, looks at me and says "you're such an irmel".

He swore he didn't know where that came from (irmel is not a word, you know), but it stuck. And it got expanded upon: there's the sleeping irmel, the cooking irmel, the photoshop irmel,... all describing different aspects of my personality. The first one was the cuddling irmel - in German "to cuddle" is "kuscheln", hence kuschelirmel :D

Commissions

While being a student puts me in a tight spot money-wise, I generally don't take commissions: I don't like being told that orange is the new black, but if you take someone's money, you do have to deal with that sort of stuff daily. It makes me cranky, it takes the fun out of my hobby (which is supposed to help me keep the balance) and therefore, I have just decided to earn money some other way if I have to.

If you like my art, if you like my style, if you want a piece of it, there is a way to get it regardless of my stance on commissions. Simply put: you need to offer me something else - a challenge for me artistically, or perhaps your own art is so gorgeous that it is very likely I will lick my fingers getting to play with it for a layout. Whatever you do or want, be creative. And for gods sakes, don't come to me with the words of "I don't want anything special" - cos why are you asking me of all people then anyway?!

While I do try to make you happy if I say yes, don't expect me to do a dozen adjustments and changes. If you don't like the outcome, don't take it - it's that simple.
